A longtime partner of Mahuta Tool provided us with a 3D solid model of a brake purge part used in the cycling industry. They required a full aluminum prototype to be constructed from the design of this solid model, in a 5 piece production run, with a two week turnaround time. Working with a 6061 aluminum base, we used our expertise in CAM programming and CNC vertical milling to machine the piece to the specified tolerance of ± 002".
In addition to the CNC vertical milling of the part in-house, assembly was required. The final part measured 2" x 1.5" x 2", with a bare aluminum finish. The prototype was then delivered to our Wisconsin customer to be integrated into a prototype bicycle braking system.
